The most important message I picked up from today’s readings overall is [primary takeaway].

My primary takeaway from each of the passages was this:

  • Leviticus 7-8  – Details of the sacrifice of reparation, praise, general rules, and consecration of priests.
  • Luke 5 – The first and most appropriate response to a personal encounter with Jesus is to acknowledge my sins and ask forgiveness. Jesus will calm my fears, forgive me, and heal me. Jesus can only be found in the presence of sinners. If I try to “clean up” or try to be perfect I’ll never see him. Jesus came to heal the sick and brokenhearted. Be brokenhearted and you’ll see Jesus. As long as you’re whole and you don’t need him, you’ll never find him.
  • Psalms 49 – If I am fortunate enough to become prosperous I should remain humble and hardworking, be grateful for my great good fortune, and remember that I am still but dust in the wind. God is my redeemer and all I have is simply on loan from him.
  • Proverbs 18 – “Good sense makes for self-control, and for pride in overlooking an offense.” v.1

That’s what I got out of it. What did you get out of the readings today?
