Online Native American Art Courses

I will be offering Native American Art Courses beginning in the summer of 2024. Teachers who would like to earn continuing education credit can do so and will receive a CEU certificate at the end of the course. These courses are still under development and I am still working to determine the appropriate number of CEUs per course, as well as the course fee. CEUs will be provided through Montana State University.

These courses will be offered via Zoom online.

• American Indian Art Survey

In this course you will learn about the art of the major indigenous culture groups of North America, ending with a brief survey of contemporary indigenous art. You will also learn about the legal aspects of Native American art.This course is for:

• • anyone who wants to learn more about Native American art and possess a working, conversational knowledge of the subject
  • those who want to be more informed collectors of Native American art

 

• Contemporary Native American Art

In this course you will learn about contemporary Native American art, what it makes it modern, and what makes it a fully American artform. You will also learn about indigenous identity issues affecting indigenous artists who choose to make contemporary work rather than culturally traditional work. The course will also cover what makes indigenous artwork contemporary rather than traditional.This course is for:

• • anyone who to the American Indian Art Survey course and wants to further their knowledge
  • those who want to be more informed collectors of Native American art
